Implementing wage restraint
An important aspect of structural adjustment, and perhaps the most difficult to implement, is wage restraint. This needs to be properly explained and compensated by other benefits through the wage determination system at the enterprise level, where the ultimate effects of such measures are felt.
ILO assists governments to adopt appropriate pay policies and practices.
