Way of the cross (Christianity)

In the state of loving Jesus and sincerely repenting those times when he has abandoned Him, the believer performs the exercise of accompanying Christ on the journey to his death by contemplating the various stages on the way. Knowing that Christ was to die for love of him the believer is aware of wishing to die - and live - for His love.
