Veronica wipes the face of Jesus (Christianity)
Description
The believer is aware that, just as Jesus' face, once so beautiful, is marred by wounds and blood, so his soul, once made beautiful through grace in baptism, has been disfigured by sin and only Jesus can restore it. He begs that, through His passion, He will indeed restore it. Loving Jesus more than himself, he repents with his whole heart and begs never again to separate himself from Him. He asks that he will love Jesus always and that Jesus will do with him as He wills.
