Jesus helped to carry the cross (Christianity)

Just as Simon of Cyrene accepted to carry the cross of Jesus when He became too weak to bear the burden, the believer accepts, through grace, to carry the cross, in particular to embrace his own death and the pain he may have to bear. As Jesus died for love of him, so he will die for love of Jesus. Loving Jesus more than himself, he repents with his whole heart and begs never again to separate himself from Him. He asks that he will love Jesus always and that Jesus will do with him as He wills.
