Magical-forces awareness (Buddhism, Tibetan)

  • Eight siddhis

Description

This state is characterized as the outcome of the exercise of the will, rather than that of the mind, whereby eight magical powers are obtained by strict meditative rituals (sadhara). These powers are represented as employing metallurgical and alchemical operations to fashion: an invincible sword; an eye salve producing clairvoyance; a foot balm for magical travel; pills to make one small; and a drink to reserve youthful vitality. There are also three powers of bodily form; shape-shifting; penetration of barriers; and sinking into the earth to control spirits and treasures.

Context

In Tibetan Sakya Buddhism this is one of the states in the "Ascension Stages Game". In some sets it is numbered 72 on the board.
