Adapting environmental policies to changes in production and trade

Context:
Environmental policies should provide the appropriate legal and institutional framework to respond to new needs for environmental protection that may result from changes in production and trade specialization.
Implementation:
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.
