Asserting certain fundamental truths to be beyond any criticism and to be absolute and unalterable in any human situation.
Context:
Groups based on a common ideology must frequently alter it to fit new circumstances. Dogmatism is a way of thinking which attempts to maintain the purity of the original ideology. Dogmatism is also used in a pejorative sense, meaning the refusal to change one's thinking even when all evidence demonstrates that it is necessary.
Claim:
Some truths are so vital that even extreme circumstances do not alter them.
Counter Claim:
Truth arises out of the given circumstances, not as an abstraction.
