Improving animal production

In 1993, UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) ran several projects to improve local animal production systems. In Benin, FAO conducted a snail raising programme that involved teaching farmers snail management techniques, housing, feeding and processing. In a similar endeavour, an ostrich production and marketing specialist helped the government of Namibia to assess domestic and export market potential and constraints for ostriches and their products.
