Background

In 1965, the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Promotion among Youth of the Ideals of Peace, Mutual Respect and Understanding between Peoples. It has been stressed that the promotion among youth of the ideals of peace, justice, freedom, mutual respect and understanding is a major component of education.

Claim

Concepts connected with human rights may and should be absorbed from the youngest age. An early education in human rights may play an important role, increasing among young people their awareness and sense of responsibility.
