Level of the spiritual body
- Third level of the higher self - Sixth chakra
Description
This is the level of Christ consciousness, when the ego is sublimated and one experiences true charity. One is co-creator with God as every activity is sacrificial, for the good of humanity rather than personal gain. The self-love and vanity arising when this centre is not functioning consciously are represented as the great whore (the misappropriation of psychic energy) dependent upon the great beast of identification and attachment (the false emotional nature). This is also "Babylon the Great", where ancient wisdom is misinterpreted as, pandering to false hopes and self-love, one attempts to emulate God and build a tower of Babel to heaven.
Context
The sixth level in progressing from the lower self to the higher self as described by F Aster Barnwell. Mastery of the first three levels (the lower self) as experienced in the three temptations faced by Christ in the wilderness, followed by the four levels of the higher self experienced by St John during his Revelation, are related to progression towards self realization through the levels of consciousness represented by the chakras.
