Apocalyptic progression from lower self to higher self

The progression towards self realization through the levels of consciousness represented by the chakras has been related to the writings of the New Testament. Mastery of the first three levels (the lower self) are compared with the three temptations faced by Christ in the wilderness before he commenced his ministry. These are followed by the four levels of the higher self experienced by St John in the Book of Revelation, the Apocalypse.
