At the request of the Government of Tuvalu, the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Cooperation (CFTC) funded the services of a Civil Aviation advisor to help upgrade the country's only airport, on Funafuti atoll, from a coral and grass strip to a fully sealed, all-weather runway with a parking area and terminal building.
