Increasing scientific capability in coastal zones

Implementation:
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.
Claim:
States should cooperate in the development of necessary coastal systematic observation, research and information management systems. They should provide access to and transfer environmentally safe technology and methodologies for sustainable development of coastal and marine areas to developing countries. They should also develop technology and endogenous scientific and technological capacities.
