Description:
Using a specially-developed questionnaire to elicit responses of couples on subjects such as communication, conflict resolution, personality, finances, religion, parenting, family and friends, sex and egalitarian roles.
Implementation:
A 125-question test developed by the University of Minnesota claims to predict with 80 to 85% accuracy which couples will divorce. More than 20,000 counsellors and members of the clergy, including USA military chaplains, now encourage or require couples to take the test before they marry.
Claim:
Marriages are made in heaven. But, again, so are thunder, lightning, tornadoes and hail (Mae West).
