Coal is China's most plentiful energy resource. China's industrial plan calls for quadrupling coal production by the year 2000. The increase would release additional greenhouse gas into the atmosphere equal to all the coal now burned in the USA. By adopting goal gasification, China could convert its high pollution potential bituminous coal to clear hydrogen at the mining sites.
