Claim:
Antagonism between husband and wife is one natural and necessary part of functioning as an effective pair.
Counter Claim:
Research reported in the UK in 1994 indicated that children brought up by both parents experienced fewer health, school and social problems than those whose parents had split up. Children of quarrelling parents, with difficult relationship problems, fared better than those who had separated, although worse than those in which the relationship was more harmonious.
