Combating fraud against governments
- Countering fraud against national government
Implementation
The fight against fraud at the EU level is in the hands of the European Anti-fraud Office (OLAF), an independent body which was set up in 1998. It took over from the European Commission's own task force which was coordinating the fight against fraud, with a staff of just 120. The number of people employed by OLAF is expected to rise gradually to 300.
