Young people's lack of context for the future

Nature

Young people today are not given a context, either by educational structures or by parents, within which to gain the practical experience of participating creatively in society and of the need for them to be responsible for creating the future. Adults believe that the young are strong and able enough to 'pick up' what is necessary in the future; in turn, the young find it easy to depend on the adults. They feel that with their own future ahead of them they should live for the present.
