Pratyeka Buddha awareness (Buddhism, Tibetan)

  • Great awakening

Description

This state of awareness, characterized as the great awakening, is represented as the karmic reward for individuals who follow the Dharma through ages when no Buddha teaches in the world. There are five stages: entering the solitary vehicle; path of application; path of vision; path of cultivation; and arhatship. These are surpassed by the states of Nirvana.

Context

In Tibetan Sakya Buddhism this is one of the states in the "Ascension Stages Game". In some sets it is numbered 43 on the board.
