Middle upper grade (Taoism)
Description
Practices involve holding the breath and circulating psychosomatic energy. There are exercices of bending and stretching, massage, focusing the mind on the forehead or the umbilical region, twisting the spine, exercising the eyes. The point between the eyes may be considered the mysterious pass. The practitioner may chatter the teeth (gate of heaven), imagine the basic spirit going in and out through the top of the head. Silent court may be paid to the supreme god. Oblivion may be considered entry into a trance. The firing process may be counting of breaths. Some imagine the merging of the black and white energies of the heart and the genitals.
Context
In the nine grades of practices which are side tracks and auxiliary methods in Taoism, this is the middle of the three upper grades.
