Fifth chakra: man becomes himself (Lila)

The player has realized compassion, and desires to pass the fruits of his experience to others. Representing higher, not animal, nature, he is born as man and understands fire (agnih). Knowledge is demonstrated in knowing the scriptures without being formally instructed. Manifesting the virtues, he suffers neither sorrow nor disease. Although understanding and merciful to all, there may be the problem of authoritarianism and obsession with logic. The presence of one who has mastered the chakra brings knowledge of the Self and an understanding of nature and the presence of the divine in all that exists. Meditation leads to control of hunger and thirst and achievement of steadiness. The player is able to rejuvenate himself.

The fifth row of the board of Lila, the game of knowledge, this is represented by the human and agnih planes, and also groups the squares representing the states of knowledge (jnana or gyana), prana-loka, apan-loka, vyan-loka (the planes of the three life breaths), birth of man, ignorance and right knowledge. Located in the throat, this chakra is related to akash (ether) and to a smoky purple colour. It is compared to the octave comprising the ages 28 to 35 of temporal life, that of parent and teacher. Gyana and right knowledge are the arrows at this stage, and ignorance the snake.
