Description
Among the archetypal images projected by the psyche are those representing paramount authority, supreme power and invincibility. In the Tarot system, the emblem called [the Emperor]
(number 4) signifies power over others and over affairs. He faces the archetypal father beyond the abyss and draws on his energy; he is the father of the manifest universe through his union with the empress, and has the quality of mercy as well as of strength and vitality.
Context
In the Kabbalah, the Emperor is placed on the 28th path between beauty (Tiphareth) and wisdom (Chokmah).
