Developing compatible demographic data and global behavioural indicators
Description:
This implies the development of socio-demographic information in a suitable format for interfacing with physical, biological and socio-economic data. It includes development of compatible spatial and temporal scales, cross-country and time-series information, and of global behavioural indicators, learning from local communities' perceptions and attitudes.
Implementation:
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.
