Monitoring effects of transboundary pollution in vegetation

Context:

Acidic rain deposition adversely affects the pH levels found in the soil upon which commercial vegetation is grown and in the ground water that people drink on a daily basis. Transboundary air pollution has been attributed to signs of forest decline. Signs of decreased tree growth, abnormal photosynthesis and a general deterioration in tree structure are all consequences.
