Controlling industrial effluents with precautionary measures based on life-cycle analysis

Implementation:
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Agenda 21 recommends control of industrial waste discharges, including low-waste production technology and water recirculation, in an integrated manner and through application of precautionary measures derived from a broad-based life-cycle analysis.
