Problem

Ideological overemphasis in economic administration

Nature:
Governments today use vast resources to administer their economies in ways that will demonstrate their particular ideological bias. Ponderous bureaucracies contain obsolete, overlapping agencies with no way of relating their tasks to long-range objectives. The lack of specific and inclusive accountability leads to misdirection and meaningless evaluation. The result is the short-sighted cessation of significant activities and the senseless perpetuation of worthless ones.
