This class of symbols includes crutch, casts for broken limbs, bandages, wheelchair, eyepatch, blind person's white stick and dark eye-shades, prescription eyeglasses, hearing aids, false teeth, prosthetic devices (including wooden leg, metal hand, claw or hook), orthopaedic shoe, truss, dental braces, support and figure control devices (corset), iron lung, blood transfusion equipment, x-ray machines, surgical table, surgical instruments, anesthaesia mask, surgeon's mask, surgeon's gloves, jars of medicine, pills, tablets, ointments, bed or hospital bed.
Metaphor:
Objects in this class may symbolically refer to general infirmity or to weakness in the part of the body with which they are associated. Some infirmities are metaphorical, for example, ignorance may be symbolized by blindness, recalcitrance by deafness, apathy by physical immobility, debility by blood transfusion, etc.<
