Description:
The six great virtues to be attained are: [sama] - control of the mind; [dama] - control of the senses; [uparama] - quietness of mind in fulfilling one's duties; [titiksa] - quietness of mind in endurance; [sraddha] - faith in the teaching of one's [guru] and in the scriptures; [samadhana] - concentrated contemplation of the teaching of one's [guru] and of the scriptures.
Context:
Together with dispassion - [vairagya], discrimination - [viveka] - and desire for liberation - [mumuksutva], listed by Shankara as one of the four requirements for one who has spiritual aspirations.<
