Form-realm consciousness
Description:
There are seventeen classes of gods in the form realm. They exist in four regions which correspond to the four concentrations or [dhyana]. Any concentration attained by the meditator causes rebirth in one of the four related areas. The first concentration has three lands: Brahma-type, Brahma-front and Great Brahma. The second concentration also has three levels: Little Light, Limitless Light and Bright Light. The third concentration is divided into Little Bliss, Limitless Bliss and Vast Bliss. The fourth concentration is divided into eight lands where the meditator may be reborn in a corresponding state of consciousness. The first three are called: Cloudless, Born from Merit and Great Fruit Land. Beyond these are the five pure places: Not Great, Without Pain, Excellent Appearance, Great Perception and Not Low. All these state of being and consciousness are in the form-realm, therefore they may be embodied in forms of vast dimensions and enjoy aeons of existence.Broader:
