Redistributing environmental rights
Context
Often, those who have been enjoying the benefits of environmental resources are wealthier and more politically powerful. Poorer peoples can both have little say in environmental debate as well as suffer most of the effects of environmental degradation. Reducing or taking away the wealthier rights to pollute or to exploit resources can benefit such disenfranchised groups.
