Improving legislation against environmental pollution

  • Increasing legislation against environmental pollution
  • Monitoring effectiveness of legislation against environmental pollution
  • Providing legislation against environmental pollution

Implementation

Many states have drawn up national environmental health action plans (NEHAPs) and are now preparing to implement them. Many NEHAPs identify the need for new legislation, and it is then helpful to have the support of the ministries responsible for both health and the environment, as well as of other relevant ministries. Ministers and ministries acting together have greater influence and may secure higher priority on the agenda of the legislative authority than if they were to act alone.
