Improving enterprise performance

  • Increasing business productivity
  • Increasing organization effectiveness

Context

Economic and social development is dependent on improvements in productivity and resource management. In their drive to improve productivity, enterprises, productivity centres and management development institutions follow various strategies such as total productivity or total quality management, quality circles, the introduction of computer technology, organizational restructuring and results-oriented human resources development. There is a growing interest in company-wide productivity programmes based on dialogue and consensus between employers and workers.

Implementation

ILO assists governments to increase productivity in sectors that are given priority in their development strategies. The programme aims to enhance the capacity of managers to improve the economic and social performance of their organizations in a rapidly changing environment.
