Identifying workforce training requirements for sustainable development

  • Identifying measures needed to implement sustainable development training for workers
  • Identifying environmental workforce training requirements

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Agenda 21 recommends that countries with the support of the UN system should identify workforce training needs and assess measures to be taken to meet those needs. A review of progress in this area could be undertaken by the UN system in 1995.
