Establishing environmental training programmes to meet needs of special groups
- Strengthening training on sustainable development programmes relevant to special groups
Context
Countries should enhance the ability to gain access to, analyse and effectively use available knowledge and information on environment and development.
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Agenda 21 recommends existing or established special training programmes should be strengthened to support information needs of special groups. The impact of these programmes on productivity, health, safety and employment should be evaluated.
