Educating adults on prevention of communicable diseases

Context

Providing public information and health education.

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.

For example, Agenda 21 suggests that widespread adult education should be undertaken on the use of oral rehydration therapy for diarrhoea, on treatment of respiratory infections and on prevention of communicable diseases.
