Non-surveillance of medical high risk persons
- Inattention to the disease-prone
Nature
Over the years much information has been gathered on factors of a genetic or environmental nature which increase the probability of an individual developing a chronic disease or disability. This knowledge has, however, only been applied to a limited extent in health services as means of identifying population groups at risk.
Claim
The identification of high-risk persons should also lead in the long run, through the intensified surveillance of populations, to economies in public health expenditures.
