Inadequate negative capability

The capacity of individuals to tolerate doubt, uncertainty, and a lack of knowledge in particular circumstances, is essential in many situations requiring action. In the realm of concepts many, successful theories in the physical sciences explicitly leave room for the unknown and for any anomalies as long as they are insufficient to disprove the theory. This factor is insufficiently appreciated or tolerated.
