Biased government information

At all levels of local and national government, political manipulation of facts and figures may be employed to conceal or mitigate unwelcome information, and to enhance news that presents the present agencies, incumbent office holders and their policies in the best possible light.

Before elections, for example, a great deal of "doctored" information is released by governments to contribute to their desirability.
