Uns (Sufism)

  • Intimacy with God

Description

In this state the seeker discovers of the unity of life and diversity of forms. Intimacy with the manifestation of God in nature makes life meaningful and God is closer than his own body. Thus, rather than seeking him outside himself, God is discovered within. Both the outer and the inner self are surrendered to God, all belongs to God and the devotee is entirely devoid of his own being. The ascendance of man to God becomes God's descending to man. While unity within diversity of form is experienced there is a great longing, shugh.

Context

The sixth psychic state listed by A Reza Aresteh as progress on the inner self through divine attraction, kedesh-jazba, the outer self already having been purified through conscious effort, kushesh.
