Firaq (Sufism)

The longing (shugh), which arises from the state of (uns), brings awareness of separation from intimacy with the beloved. The most intense state of separation from the image of God is said to have arisen when man became aware of himself and of the distance between himself and nature. He was cast from the paradisal, unconscious state in nature and has longed for a new union ever since.
