Showq (Sufism)

Experience of unity in the diversity of form leads to intense longing for greater intimacy. Al-Ansari describes this on three levels: longing for paradise; longing for God because of God's kindness, with attachment of the heart to the divine attributes; longing desire when earthly life is spoiled, no comfort is possible and which no consolation deters except meeting with the beloved.

The third psychic state listed by A Reza Aresteh as progress on the inner self through divine attraction, kedesh-jazba, the outer self already having been purified through conscious effort, kushesh.
