True man (Taoism)

Having realized Tao, the individual is free from all limitations and has attained perfection. As true man, [chen jen]

, he has realized the truth within himself and abandoned all concepts. As highest man, [chih-jen]

, he is free from identification with the ego. As spiritual man, [shen-jen]

, he is free from action. As true sage and realized saint, [sheng-jen]

, he is free from the need to express things in words. He is all this when he realizes Tao. Thus he transcends birth and death and is indifferent to circumstances.
