Recognition of the true mind (Taoism)

  • Discovery of the natural mind
  • Recognition of the innocent mind

Description

During this stage the natural, innocent, true mind is recognized as distinct from conventional human mentality. This essential step in cultivating reality is symbolized by the process of finding the "heart of heaven and earth". This mind is subtle and recondite and is not easily manifested. When found it may then be used to refine the self. True consciousness emerges, as a point of celestial energy, and provides the clarity through which undesirable influences may be distinguished and disempowered. It is tranquil and unperturbed, yet sensitive and effective.

Context

The second of seven stages of the Taoist alchemical firing process through which reality is cultivated and the self is restored.
