Description
This is the resolve to renounce the world, to practice benevolence and to do no harm or hurt (ahimsa). It arises from right outlook. The characteristic is right directing of the mind; the function is application of the mind, bringing absorption of consciousness on nirvana as object; manifestation is through abandoning wrong thinking.
Context
One of the characteristics of the Eightfold Way of Buddhism attained with the path of bhavana (meditation) and which, together with right outlook, constitutes wisdom (panna).
