Description

This is to know suffering, its origin and cessation, and the path which leads to its cessation. The transience of conditioned existence is realized. Nirvana is the object of understanding, this eliminating the innate tendency to ignorance. The characteristic is seeing rightly; the function is setting forth or revealing the elements; manifestation is in dispelling the darkness of ignorance.

Context

One of the characteristics of the Eightfold Way of Buddhism attained with the path of bhavana (meditation) and which, together with right resolves, constitutes wisdom (panna).
