Psychic development (Psychism)
- Spiritual development
Description
This is the process whereby an individual develops ability in telepathy (perception of another person's on-going mental activities without the use of any sensory means of communication), in clairvoyance (ability to know directly without normal sensory means information or facts about events occurring in remote locations), in precognition (ability to know of events or happenings in the future without sensory or inferential means of knowing), and in psychokinesis (movement of matter by nonphysical means or direct mental influence over physical objects or systems). Such abilities may develop naturally or may be enhanced by various forms of training which may include prayer and meditation.
Advocates of psychic development frequently use it as being synonymous with spiritual development, although those concerned with transcendental forms of consciousness consider the phenomena associated with psychic development to be more of a hindrance to the achievement of higher states of consciousness.
