Meaning creation (ICA)

Description

This is realizing that the significance or meaning of an event is what one decides it to be; when a person discovers that what he does is known in history but that the interpretation of an event is his to create. It might be that when Mahatma Gandhi was thrown off the train in South Africa, he decided that this was to be not just an unpleasant experience but one that would shape his future life.

Context

In the ICA New Religious Mode in the arena of acting out one's deed (the life of doing) the fourth formal aspect is becoming the symbol of the eternal context. At the second phenomenological level this occurs when one recognizes one's life as sheer venture.
