Latifa-i-qalb (Sufism)
- Active with the remembrance of God
Description
In a state of perfect purification and sitting in a quiet place, the seeker touches his palate with his tongue and thinks of his physical heart repeating "Allah, Allah". Knowing he is not listening to it but intending to try, he fully concentrates on listening to it. Through God's help there is a slight motion in the heart. Not being able to know if this is real or simply respiration or imagination, the seeker concentrates more and the motion becomes more audible so that he is certain of the heart palpitating and murmuring.
Context
This is the first state arising in the method of dhikr described by Shaykh Kalimallah. It is said to be a manifestation of Allah as the compelling, al-Jabbar.
