Knowledge of the path of arahantship (Buddhism)
Description
The noble disciple, a non-returner, attenuates greed for sense-desires and ill will. Seeing the five aggregates as impermanent, painful and not self, he passes through the series of insights terminating in change-of-lineage. The path of arahantship arises; knowledge associated with it is the knowledge of the path of arahantship. This is the seventh noble person. Supramundane path moment arahantship consciousness is followed by two or three fruition moment arahantship consciousnesses. This is the eighth noble person. He is one of the great ones, all cankers destroyed, bearing his last body, his burdens laid down. He has reached his goal and destroyed the fetters of becoming, liberated with right or final knowledge.
