Description

Entering between sho and hen, the two polarities of reality, the disciple experiences everything in its own uniqueness, there is no longer emptiness, which vanishes into phenomena.

Context

One of five degrees of enlightenment – goi – enumerated in Zen buddhism, the depth of enlightenment depending upon the relationship of sho (absolute reality) with hen (relative reality). This is the fourth degree of enlightenment.
